Theirworld Sanitary Towels Distribution Project
Advancing Menstrual Health and Educational Equity
Tumaini La Maisha Kenya successfully implemented the Theirworld Sanitary Towels Distribution Project, a targeted initiative delivered in partnership with Theirworld to reduce period poverty among vulnerable adolescent girls in Western Kenya.
The project provided menstrual hygiene products and comprehensive menstrual health education, helping girls manage their periods safely and confidently while reducing school absenteeism associated with menstruation. Awareness sessions on puberty, reproductive health, and menstrual hygiene also helped reduce stigma and encouraged open conversations within schools and communities.
Outcomes
The project directly supported 500 vulnerable school-going girls, contributing to improved school attendance, increased confidence, and greater awareness of menstrual health. Its successful completion strengthened community understanding of the importance of menstrual health as a key component of girls' education and gender equality, while reinforcing our commitment to ensuring every girl has the opportunity to learn and thrive.
