Sanitary Towel Production
Transitioning to sustainable, reusable menstrual hygiene products
Many girls in the rural areas of Kenya miss out on achieving their professional dreams due to missing out on classes when they are menstruating. Most of these girls have not seen or used menstrual supplies until TLM provided them with sanitary towels (pads), because their parents had to choose between buying sanitary towels or buying food.
Our goal is to transition from providing disposable sanitary towels to washable reusable sanitary towels to increase the sustainability of the program, and generate income where the menstrual supplies can be sold.
By training local women in tailoring and assembly, this project will provide secure jobs while supplying high-quality, long-lasting, eco-friendly sanitary solutions directly to local schools and communities.
Key Highlights
- Washable, reusable sanitary pads
